What is Mindfulness ?

Mindfulness is the practice of paying close attention to things as they are in the present moment, ‘right now’. At its core, mindfulness encourages us to become an observer of our thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. We do this by being curious and without judgement. This allows us to gain a deeper understanding of our inner world, our thoughts and feelings. The practices teach us how to reduce our overthinking, our anxieties and everyday worries.

What is Mindfulness Training ?

Mindfulness training is about reprogramming our minds from those sometimes unhelpful negative thinking patterns to more positive ones that then improve our well-being and happiness. The practices involve many everyday activities you learn to tap into. You begin to find a profound source of self-awareness and resilience, empowering you to navigate the complexities of modern life with greater clarity and balance. Meditation is ONLY one of the practices in Mindfulness Training. We could consider our training in Mindfulness as taking our brain to the gym. Our minds are highly developed; however, you may be surprised to know that research has shown our minds have a negative bias, which can be unhelpful to our overall well-being.

How Will Mindfulness Help Me in My Life?

When people practise mindfulness, they often experience meaningful changes in themselves. They report feeling calmer, less stressed, and more creative, often finding that they enjoy life’s experiences more than before. Many also describe feeling more grateful and appreciative of the good things in their lives. In addition, they become less judgemental of themselves and others, and more compassionate toward both themselves and those around them.

The research evidence shows that people experience these changes within a few weeks of beginning a mindfulness course.

How do I study Mindfulness?

Research evidence has shown that a 6 - 8 week Mindfulness course will support positive changes in emotional wellbeing and everyday living. At Train My Mind we offer a  6-week course and one to one coaching designed to positively transform how you feel and how you approach your life.

Mindfulness is experiential learning so there is only a little theory with lots of practical exercises for you to enjoy and try out. You don't need to take notes; everything is supplied for you to enjoy your experience. You will learn the scientific evidence behind Mindfulness training and how it supports your well-being.

What do you need to do?

  • Attend each week to your group class held in a physical location or on-line.
  • Practice the short exercises daily or 6 days out of 7.
  • Keep  an open mind to enjoy the experience and meet others of like minds.
  • It is a commitment, but the rewards are well worth it.
